Witteberg Mountains
I was greatly inspired to bring to life some images photographed by aa friend of mine who went to the Witteberg area. From those images I looked into the surrounding flora of the area and the raw beauty of the staggering peaks and contrasting shadows between the rocks and hills.
The Witteberg Private Nature Reserve is a mountain range which lies nearby to Laingsburg, Western Cape. It's well known for its beautiful Grooveleaf Sugarbush as well as the Rolled-leaf Sugarbush, these unique protea species inspired me to represent them in my drawings. I used a subtle warm brown as my color of choice, as the project proceeded I wanted them to have an old map sort of feel, old timey and vintage. They sort of became my own mappings of the area; places I want to see for myself.
